FAQs

Is the pub dog friendly?

Yes, we welcome dogs, both inside and out. We do ask that they are kept on a lead.

Is the pub family friendly?

Yes, all are welcome, but we do like to keep the settle as an adult only drinking area.

Is there a garden?

We have a lovely garden with space for all.  This is also where we hold our summer beer festivals and the literature festival. At the top is an old bowls pavilion which can be used when the weather is a bit nippy or damp.

Can I stay at the Low House?

We have three lovely rooms to rent in the old stable block next to the pub.  Please visit the “stay at the pub” tab on our Website and contact us by phone or email.

How old is the Low House?

It’s obviously an old building but it has probably only been an ale house since Victorian times.  We just tell people it dates back to 1547.

How do I book a table?

Call us on 01986 798395 or email thelowhouselaxfield@gmail.com

Can I bring my own wine or celebration cake?

You are welcome to bring your own wine with prior arrangement. A corkage charge will be made on your bill accordingly (£10 per still bottle). We have limited space to store cakes, especially fresh cakes. If you wish to bring a celebratory cake with you we will do our best to accommodate this for you. If the cake is eaten as a replacement to your dessert course a charge will be made accordingly (£3 per person)

What is access like at the pub?

It is a very old building with small rooms and doorways, but if mobility is difficult just let us know when you’re coming, and we will find you a comfortable spot.
